I overheard a chat today at work and it sort of irked me, so I figured I would write about it to communicate my opinions.  The conversation was going on between 2 other girls and they were talking about the free trial health supplements offered on line. Was I victim of fraud?  Not even close.  So, what's all this discussion about being tricked and the way in which the products are not actually free, or whether they actually even work?  Let me try to reply to these questions one at a time.  Are the supplements really free?  Not entirely, but for the most part, yup.  You see, you get a trial bottle of the supplement, whether it be a 14 day trial, thirty day trial, whichever. However, you've got to pay for the shipping charges. For the most part it's less than $9.  Here's where the initial cost comes in.  So why do they charge freight and offer the supplement free of charge?  Well, a lot of folks won't try something if they are not sure if it works, but if they do not have alot to lose, they might give it a try. The corporations know this, which explains why they offer you the 1st bottle at no charge.  They ask for a credit card number to pay for the shipping because they are confident about their products and they want you to continue as a consumer, so the fine print is that they will charge your credit card again after x number of days and send you a new bottle.  If you don't want to be charged because the supplement did not work for you, and it may not work because everybody is unique,everyone is unique, than just call the toll free number to cancel it.  It's as straightforward as that.  And you will not be billed again.  I have done this time and again without trouble and I pay close attention to my creditcard statements and have seen no monkey business going on.  You see, offering something for free up front, asking for a Mastercard to pay shipping, and rebilling monthly is a great business model.  It works, that's the reason why these firms do it.  They know what works and they want to earn money.  I highly doubt that any of them are looking to scam anyone or they would not be in business for any length of time. Most of the trial takers like the product and see results so the company knows they'll recover the expenses of offering something free.  And I am sure they get a decent profit margin so it doesn't take long.  Now, using famous celebs to assist with promotion is a bit underhanded I admit, but that has been going on for a while.  Watch any commercial and see if you are unable to spot a celeb.  And do you think they really use the product being advertised. Doubtful.  They likely do it for the paycheck.  Those kinds of promotions online are being tightened up on so you almost certainly won't see much of that anymore anyhow.  As for the safety of the products, I myself only get superfoods or products that are natural.  I don't hunt down weightloss products with chemicals and other crap.  I get products that contribute to healing, not ones that make me unhealthy.  In the case of acai, I will be getting extraordinarily powerful antioxidants to keep the free radicals at bay.  For colonic cleansing products, I am going to be getting assistance ridding my body of built up waste and losing pounds in the process.  Well, that's my time.
